John Hillcoat Discusses Next Film, Shia LaBeouf

Director John Hillcoat gave an interview recently about his upcoming projects with his collaborator Nick Cave. Now it's looking like they've attached some A-list talent, too...

Atomic Popcorn quotes Hillcoat talking about his next film, The Wettest County in the World:

Yeah it’s west Virginia, moonshine, backwoods, and Prohibition. Nick Cave has written the script and we’ve got a phenomenal cast. Hopefully, but — it’s really tough out there. … Ryan Gosling and Shia LaBeouf. But yeah, I shouldn’t really talk about it cause it’s in the middle of all sorts of stuff.

As for his project The Death of Bunny Munro, it's looking like that's going to be a television series. Hillcoat said that he's trying to get the BBC involved.

It's tricky to imagine Ryan Gosling and Shia LaBeouf in a Hillcoat flick, but if anyone knows how to use A-list talent it's Hillcoat and Cave. Not having seen The Road, Hillcoat's most recent film, it's hard to say whether he's still the master of the post-apocalyptic. But however the cookie crumbles it's just good that the director of The Proposition is continuing to get work.
